Anniversaries and Eileen Gray 

Minima, the iconic design store founded by Helen Kilmartin, will celebrate its 30th anniversary alongside the 100th anniversary of Eileen Gray’s iconic Bibendum chair at an exclusive design event during Design Week Dublin, in its Hanover Quay showroom. (Minima also has a showroom at One Ballsbridge.) Join the Minima team for a very special event on Friday 18 September at 7pm.
 
Eileen Gray’s 1926 Bibendum armchair is one of the most distinctive works of modernism. For 100 years, its striking form has embodied the non-conformist spirit of Gray and her visionary approach to design. Among other pieces, Minima will display the centenary edition of the chair in the showroom – there are only 100 numbered pieces worldwide, produced under license by ClassiCon. 
 
Inspired by a rare historical original from the 1920s, the anniversary edition reinterprets the Bibendum armchair with special materials and refined details: the high-quality nubuck leather in a warm sand tone emphasises the sculptural character of the luxuriously upholstered rolls, while the nickel-plated tubular steel frame lends the design a contemporary elegance. Each armchair has Eileen Gray’s signature engraved on it, as well as an edition number, from 1 to 100.
