Fabric and Furniture: A Conversation on Craftmanship, Heritage and Provenance 

Join furniture designer Tom Faulkner and CEO of Magee Weaving Mill Patrick Temple for a conversation exploring the craft, values, and vision behind bespoke design on Sunday 20 September, from 14:30pm-4pm, at Magee of South Anne Street, 21-26 Anne Street South, Dublin 2.

Tom and Patrick will discuss the distinct advantages of weaving fabric and making furniture locally, and will feature a new collaboration piece from Tom using Irish Wool from the Magee Mill.

The conversation will also touch on a shared idea of the growing desire for knowing the provenance of a piece of luxury furniture before investing in it as well as how traditional techniques continue to help shape contemporary design. 

Patrick Temple is CEO of Magee Weaving, a fifth-generation family business at the heart of Donegal’s textile history. With a background in engineering and sustainable energy, Patrick returned home to lead the mill and champion the use of natural fibre fabrics, from Donegal tweed to Irish linen and Irish wool. Away from the looms, he is also an organic farmer, developing Irish wool with others in the farming community for use in textiles.

Tom Faulkner is a designer and maker of exquisite furniture and accessories, whose eponymous brand was established in 1996. Every piece is handmade to order at his workshop in Wiltshire, UK, and is defined by clean lines, distinctive silhouettes, and beautiful materials — earning the brand a reputation for originality, craftsmanship, and exceptional service.
